India’s Chandrayaan 3 Moon Landing Successful

With the successful landing of Chandrayaan 3, India made lunar history by being the first nation to touch down on the moon’s South Pole. Prime Minister Modi praised the efforts of Indians and space scientists. “This day will go down in Indian history,” PM Modi declared.

The final phase of the landing was the true test of the mission. ISRO activated the Automatic Landing Sequence (ALS) around 20 minutes before touchdown. It gave the Vikram LM the freedom to utilize its own computers and logic to find a good landing place on the moon’s surface and touch down gently.

According to experts, the final 15–20 minutes of the Chandrayaan-3 mission, when the Vikram lander made its gentle landing, were reportedly vital. Today, people all around India and the world are praying for a successful landing of the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft.

Since India’s second lunar mission had failed just 20 minutes before landing, ISRO proceeded with extreme caution this time. Many refer to the time leading up to the moon landing as the “20 or 17 minutes of terror” due to the huge stakes involved.

At this point, the Vikram lander started its engines at precisely the proper timings and altitudes, making the entire procedure fully autonomous.

August 23, 2023, will go down in Indian history as a watershed moment. Union Minister Hardeep Puri told ANI that “this is a proud moment for all the people of the country.”

Chandrayaan 3 Mission Aims

As the successor mission of Chandrayaan-2, Chandrayaan 3 aims high. Its principal goals are to demonstrate a safe and precise soft landing on the lunar surface, deploy a rover for mobility, and conduct experiments on the moon. The search for water in permanently shadowed regions of the Moon’s south pole is an important part of this mission.
